Constructed in 1823, but first opened in 1828, the Kapareli lighthouse lies on the islet Peristeres or Tiniozo or Kapareli and marks the dangerous passage between Corfu and Albania. Located at a height of 23.5 meters above sea level, it includes the cylindrical tower of 9 meters and houses the lighthouse keeper ‘s residence. It remained in disuse during World War II and today operates as a solar flare with characteristic red luminescence at 5 and 5 nm.
