New Fortress

Brief Description

The St. Mark’s fortress or otherwise known as the New Fortress, started to be constructed in 1577 by the Venetians and was finally completed in 1588.
Its stole of the art design and construction led to the prevention of the Ottoman to occupy Corfu in 1716, thus ensuring the freedom of the Western World.
