Constructed by British engineers in 1824 and with a focal height of 12 meters, the Vardianoi lighthouse is located in the homonymous islet at the entrance of the bay of Argostoli. The cylindrical tower has a height of 12.5 meters and includes house lighthouse personnel. After its destruction by an earthquake in 1953 and its reconstruction, the height was reduced to 8.5 meters. The lighthouse is open until today with automatic acetylene torch.
